Progesterone Test

Service Description

Progesterone testing is performed by collecting a small blood sample from your bitch's foreleg. The sample is analysed to determine progesterone levels, making it the most accurate way to identify ovulation and the optimal time for insemination. Results are available within 90 minutes, allowing timely breeding decisions. Each result is carefully interpreted to minimise unnecessary repeat testing while ensuring accurate timing. We recommend beginning progesterone testing from day 6 of your bitch's season (with the first day of bleeding counted as day 1), although the ideal starting time may vary between individual dogs. Please note: if you are using Sandown Veterinary clinic for Artificial Insemination you are required to progesterone at no longer than 3-day intervals. Please let us know at your first appointment.
